Vernita Scoggins Gamble


Vernita S. Gamble, 68, of Texarkana, Texas, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, in a Tyler, Texas, hospital.

Ms. Gamble was born July 30, 1940, in Nashville, Ark. She was a retired inspector at Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant, Northeast Texas First Jurisdiction missionary and member of Wallace Memorial COGIC.

Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa Gamble Jackson and Valencia Gamble of Waco, Texas; two brothers, Doyce Scoggins of Los Angeles and Ellis Scoggins of Texarkana; three sisters, Shirley Danzy of Inglewood, Calif., Helen Robinson and Joyce Arnold of Texarkana; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Heights COGIC with Superintendent Neotis Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens under direction of Richardson Hill Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

The family will be at 2305 W. 14th St., Texarkana.
