Robert Lee “Red” Henderson
of Texarkana, Texas, died Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in Texarkana.
After graduating from Dunbar High School in Texarkana, Texas, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he attended college and worked for the United States Postal Service.
Red was born October 31, 1939, as the third child of six children, to the late Buck Henderson and Mary Neal Henderson. At an early age, Red accepted Christ as his personal Savior and united with the Mt. Orange Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Buck Henderson; sons LaNorris Henderson and Hervie Henderson; brothers Tom, James “Jamey,” and Otis “Joe.” He is survived by his mother, Mary Henderson of Texarkana, Texas; wife, Bobbie Lee Cooley Henderson of Barstow, California; daughters, Valerie Henderson Gray (Clarence) of Barstow, California and LaJuana Henderson of San Antonio, Texas; son Rodney Henderson of Barstow, California; brother, Nadell “Dude” Henderson; and sisters, Minnie Faye Henderson Scott of Houston, Texas and Louisa Fowler of Dallas, Texas; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. His family, and friends, including his West Coast family and friends will forever cherish memories of him.
